The Mustard See Garden Manual of Painting (1679) is an instructional manual that catalogues various painting styles by reknowned Chinese masters up to the 17th century. The manual, which was a pedagogical tool for aspiring painters, comprises of specific chapters - including Book of Trees, Book of Rocks, and Book of People and Things, etc. Disparate images from these various chapters are collaged together to produce images that are self-referential to the production of images.
